I live in a very active place here in Patrick Co VA. At first I had no idea WHY it was so active. Eventually the locals started filling us in.
The first bit of information we got was the fact that this house is referred to as the “Jeff House” by the locals. That is the name of the of the man who built his house. I have not done any manual research on this place yet but I plan to do so.
Information was volunteered that there was a man who was shot and killed in my front yard. He was caught stealing.
We also gathered some more info by accident when a local man told Barry this place was haunted. Barry asked him why he would say such a thing? He said this used to be a place where people came to play poker. He said there was several who died in this house due to those poker games. Again I have not done any manual research to confirm this.
The most odd discovery was of a small older graveyard behind my house in the woods. The grave yard is so old that most grave markers are just stones stuck in the ground. There are a 2 markers with dates carved in them.
Unexplained Happenings At My House
The past 4 years has been really exciting here at times. I want to share a few of our unexplained happenings.
* My Mother In Law was baby sitting for us March 2006. We were on a weekend trip to Fredericksburg VA. She said 2 different times she smelt what she described as " old fashioned perfume". She said she was sitting in the recliner and it was if someone had passed by. I can't smell(childhood problem/illness took my smelling ability) but at some point and time I get a whiff of that same perfume...it gets in my mouth and I can taste it. It is very strong. It is not a bad smell but it is really "floral" smelling.
* My Son has reported seeing a reflection in the TV while it was off of a man peaking around the door frame into the living room. He came into my bed room and woke me up afterwards. It scared him really bad.
*I have felt unseen hands touch my shoulder while I was working in my office. Where I was touched was if someone had their hands on a block of ice.
* Barry has saw shadows move in the kitchen. I often times see this, as if someone is pacing back and forth.
* I do not like to sleep with the lights off because I feel as if someone is in my face. We leave the TV on in our bedroom. Once I had closed my eyes and opened them and it was if someone rushed my face...it was a bright white light. I screamed and woke my husband up.
*I was in the bath tub and I heard what sounded like our big red igloo cooler being scooted across the floor. I yelled for my husband but he did not answer. I got dressed and was amazed to see that the cooler was where it was last. My husband was busy outside planting the garden. He just looked at me when I asked him if he came in. He said he had not been in the house in the last hr.
* I have heard what sounds like that old fashioned cap gun toy being fired off. I heard it go POP POP 2 times in the kitchen not long ago. There was nothing in there. My cat ran like heck from that room. I had clear view of the kitchen at all times from my office.
* My uncle Eligah moved in with us in 2006. He has a trailer behind our house. He came down to my house one night about 10 pm. He had a very puzzled look on his face. He asked where Barry was...and I said " he is in bed". He shook his head and asked where Blake was and I said " he is in the bath". He looked stunned and I asked him " what is a matter, is the boogers after you?". He said "as a matter of fact I think they are". He went to to tell me he thought Barry or Blake was playing a joke on him. He said he saw a glowing blue ball of light about the size of a basketball. It came toward his trailer and just stalled out. His dog ran and hid. He said after a few minutes it disappeared in thin air. He was outside when he witnessed that.
This picture was taken 6-19-08 after I saw movement with my naked eye. I was outside attempting to photo the full moon when I saw a big basketball sized ball of light shoot across in front of me. This was the first night of the full moon.
I took a few pictures of the old graveyard behind my house. I counted around 12 graves. There could be more. My husband and I had talked about cleaning up the graveyard and putting a fence up around it. Barry has already cut several trees out of it that has fallen.
From what I can tell the date on this stone says 1886. There were only 2 stones with readable dates on them. The others have just worn off or were never placed on the stones to start with.
I have got several EVP's standing in my driveway. It is a mans voice and each time he has said his name was Pete. While at the graveyard I asked if there was a "Pete" there... take a listen to the EVP and see what you think! You might need to wear head phones to get the best result!
